St. Patricks Day with The Chieftans

Hear a unique take on Irish-American history through the music of The Cheiftans featuring Ry Cooder, the world's most celebrated Irish music group. Their new album San Patricio explores the story of an Irish-American battalion and the kinship between Irish and Mexican cultures. Meet JazzSet's Dee Dee Bridgewater on March 25

As host of NPR’s JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dee Dee serves as a sparkling ambassador for jazz.  Her illustrious multi-award winning career has taken her around the world.  Now she is bringing her vocal talents to San Antonio for a concert performance hosted by Trinity University's KRTU 91.7 FM.  The day before her Alamo City engagement, you can meet her at a reception hosted by TPR.  Click here for details.

Special Film Screening: Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon

On March 23, Kurosawa (1910-1998) would have been 100 years old.  TPR is commemorating the day with a special screening of perhaps on of his finest films: Rashomon.  Through an ingenious use of flashbacks, the film reveals the complexities of human nature as four people recount different versions of the same story: a horrific crime involving two men, a woman, and a murder.  Click here for details and to reserve your space.

Texas Public Radio had strong representation among the winners of this year's Texas Associated Press Broadcaster Awards. TPR's Terry Gildea was repeatedly recognized for his coverage of military issues in the region, and TPR programming director Nathan Cone was commended for his interviewing skills. The San Antonio International Piano Competition Finals
